Last week the Governing Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA) met in Paris for its June meeting. Interesting discussions took place about developments on the energy markets, new technological approaches and also about megatrends, such as urbanisation. A strategic repositioning process was also introduced which should make the IEA a global player in the fields of security of energy supply and clean energy. Currently, numerous countries are asking to join the IEA and the structures of the IEA will have to be more strongly oriented to the topics of energy efficiency and integration of new technologies.
