August 19, 2015 – Yesterday evening marked the launch of the Swiss-US Energy Innovation Days 2015. The delegates from the U.S. gathered for a welcome cocktail to meet their fellow innovators from Switzerland with whom they will be discussing current and future energy solutions during the next three days. The group included around fifty high-level representatives from cleantech companies, universities, associations, and the government. Switzerland is known for its forward thinking in green technology making it an ideal place to combine ideas and share thoughts.
The lively discussions during the welcome cocktail quickly moved from jet lag issues, the quality of the tapas, and the oncoming rainy weather, to the upcoming, pressing energy topics on both sides of the ocean, promising an exciting week!
Today, around 120 brilliant minds from Switzerland and the USA will meet for the first workshop session, followed by sites visits to iHomeLab, the think tank and research center for building intelligence, and the your+ prototype, an optimized collective housing concept that has reached the 5th place in the Solar Decathlon Europe competition in 2014, both sites situated at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – School of Engineering and Architecture in Horw. The second site visit this afternoon will be to the Suurstoffi Rotkreuz, a brand new integrated, traffic-free and carbon-free district with a so-called „anergy“ network. The day will be concluded with a networking reception at Siemens AG in Zug, with an address from Thomas Aeschi, Member of the Swiss House of Representatives, Canton of Zug.
